Auszubildende•• Cultural note:Trainees and apprentices are known as Azubis or Auszubildende. They are trained within the German dual system ( das duale Ausbildungssystem), which comprises practical on-the-job training in recognized occupations with theoretical instruction at a Berufsschule. During the training period Azubis receive a small wage from their employer. In order to gain professional qualifications Azubis take an examination at the end of their two- or three-year apprenticeship.
